CILICIA. Tarsos. Balakros, satrap of Cilicia, 333-323 BC. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 10.76 g, 7 h). Draped bust of Athena facing slightly to left, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet and pearl necklace. Rev. Baaltars seated left on throne, torso facing, holding eagle-tipped scepter in right hand; in field to left, grain ear and grape bunch; below, T; in field to right, ivy leaf. Casabonne series 2. SNG Paris 368-9 var. (B above ivy leaf). Well struck and attractive. Struck slightly off center and with light cleaning scratches. Nearly extremely fine.
